Summer Feet

There is something about summer feet. Photography has the remarkable ability to freeze time, capturing the beauty of their innocence. Through the lens, we can preserve their childhood, allowing these memories to live on long after they've grown. It seems like yesterday when they were dancing in the living room both in diapers, a wand in one hand and snack in the other. Now they feel like they can take on the world at ages 9 & 7. 

Enter summer feet. 

My girls were playing nicely in the playroom. A rare occurrence these days with their new found fondness for fighting. ( Look at that alliteration! Nice!)

Side note: I know you all can remember the days when our "playroom" was the backyard, the canal bank or stream in the neighborhood, and the endless sidewalks all over town just waiting to be explored. Those were the days. 

Back to the playroom. I glanced into the room and instantly caught a glimpse of their dirty, black feet. Created from doing cartwheels & playing tag with friends the day before. When I first became a mom this beautiful moment would have never been witnessed. What with their nightly baths to complete their textbook evening routine I read was necessary in those mommy blogs. I have since grown to embrace the mess and let the local swimming pool rinse the day away. I am thankful for this growth and this ability to let go a little. Without it I would not be able to relish in their youth and reflect back on my childhood memories. 

I have taken a couple weeks to immerse myself in their laughter, their adventures, and their sisterly fights. By doing so, I was able to bring a renewed sense of passion and inspiration to my work.

Enter summer feet again.

This photograph brings me so much joy and excitement for the memories they are going to share together. This photograph also serves as a gentle reminder of the rapid pace at which our children grow up. Through my lens I hope to capture these fleeting moments to cherish their childhood.
